Using HITLER in your car ad? Not a good idea.

The ad, which we found on Buzzfeed, created by a group of students from the Film Academy in Ludwigsburg, Germany, is set in Braunau am Inn, Austria where Adolf Hitler was born and raised.

It shows a Mercedes driving through a village in what is probably the 1890s, while a little Adolf runs around flying his kite.

Then, tragedy strikes and little Adolf is hit by the car. His mother sees her boy get hit, drops her washing basket and runs to him, screaming his name.

The screen then fades to black saying “Detects dangers before they come up” punting the car’s Collision Prevention Assist technology, before going back to a shot of little Adolf lying dead in the shape of a Swastika.

The students who created it noted: “The Collision-Prevent-Assist-System of Mercedes does well. What if it would have been developed ages ago? What if it would be a lot better (than) we expected? What would (it) be if it had a soul?”

Mercedes knows about the ad, but called it “inappropriate”, but they haven’t exactly forced the students to take it down. Free advertising and all.
