Which trends suit me?

I believe that fashion needs to be an inspiration to create your own personal style rather than dictating to you what you should wear.

Every trend and colour is not going to suit every woman, so it’s up to you to select the ones that suit you best.  How do you do that, you may ask?

Here are my top tips to selecting trends that suit you:

1. Wear what you like.
What you like and what you are drawn to will reflect your natural personal style.  It’s no good trying to wear the rock chic look when your natural look is pretty and feminine.

Rather adapt aspects of a trend that you like to your personal style.  If you love converse hi tops, then pair them with a feminine dress or pair of jeans and feminine blouse.

2. Wear what suits your shape. Super skinny, low rise jeans is not going to look fabulous on everyone.  If you like them and you look great in them… then go for it.  If you don’t, find another trend that does suit you or adapt it.  Select a slim leg or bootleg that balances your hips.  There are many trends to choose from, we don’t all have to wear the same trend to look fashionable.

3. Choose trends that fit your lifestyle. If you have a casual lifestyle, select funky casual trends to suit.  If you are a corporate career, you may need to keep your funky casual look for weekends.  You want your clothes to feel and look comfortable, so they are easy to wear.  Traipsing after toddlers in stilettos may not do the trick.

4. Be who you are. Fashion is meant to be fun.  It does influence what we think looks good, but it doesn’t have to dictate to you what you should wear.  Wear colours and styles that reflect who you are on the inside.  The way you look does say a lot about you, so why not make it say the right things?

Next, I’ll be doing an article series on top wearable spring trends.  I hope to inspire you to create a look that suits your body shape, personality, lifestyle and personal style.
