When she lost her mom suddenly to cancer – it was 13 days from diagnosis to death – the rawness of grief hit her hard.

It was a lonely experience, says writer Bridget McNulty, but she learnt a lot about the process of bereavement and eventually realised that grief isn’t something to “get over”. Rather, it’s a loss to honour and live with.
