Cape Town - Fergie is ready to move on.
According to court documents, the 44-year-old American singer filed for divorce in California on Friday, E News reports.
The Big Girls Don’t Cry singer and Josh (46) announced their split in September 2017, after eight years of marriage.
"They took their time figuring things out and making sure this was the right decision," an insider said.
"They had a long separation to see if there was any chance of things changing. Over time, it became clear they’d made the right decision and that it was time to move on.
"They love each other dearly and they have a great relationship since separating.
"But they needed to finalise things so they could truly move on and close that chapter of their lives. There was no culprit, it was just time."
The former couple have a five-year-old son, Axl, and have opened up on how co-parenting has worked for them.
"We split it up really balanced," Fergie told Entertainment Online during an interview.
"We're all love and we love each other. We're all cool and just a family. I have a good co-parenting partner, so we work it out."
The filing comes just a week after the Safe Haven actor was spotted in Malibu with an unidentified woman, Daily Mail reports.
