After months in and out of hospital, Jamie Spears has had a leg amputated.
The surgery, which took place last month, comes after Jamie (71), who is the father of Britney Spears, underwent several surgeries. It’s been reported that earlier this year he was dealing with a bacterial infection.
“He had a knee replacement and got a terrible infection from it,” a source told Page Six.
It’s believed that the knee replacement operation took place in the mid-2000s. According to sources, the last resort was for Jamie to have his leg amputated.
Britney’s father has been dealing with many health issues over the years. In 2008 he was taken to the hospital, where it’s believed that his colon ruptured. He underwent emergency surgery, and had to stay in hospital for almost a month.
His relationship with his eldest daughter remains strained.
In 2008, Britney was placed under his conservatorship by a judge after she was declared unable to take care of her personal and financial affairs.
The conservatorship was terminated in late 2021. However, Britney and her father are yet to reconcile.
The pop singer has had difficult relationships with other members of her family, including sister Jamie-Lynn (32), brother Bryan (46) and her mother, Lynne (68).
However, the Gimme More singer seems to be building bridges. On her recent birthday, Bryan and Lynne were in attendance. Her younger sister couldn’t be there because she had other commitments.
In an Instagram post in May Britney shared her delight at being able to go on a coffee date with her mother.
“My sweet mama showed up at my doorstep yesterday after three years. It’s been such a long time . . . with family there’s always things that need to be worked out . . . but time heals all wounds!” she posted.
She also recently posted a picture of her brother, who was wearing protective clothing and a hard hat.
“My big brother who’s like a dad and my best friend!!” she captioned the picture, which she also posted on Instagram.
Jamie has also said in many interviews that she has made up with her elder sister.
Since her conservatorship ended, Britney has been posting all sorts of videos on her Instagram account. Most of them are of her dancing or wearing little to nothing.
In one of her videos, which was taken three months ago but posted recently, she can be seen dancing in a bikini with her manager and best friend, Cade Hudson, while holidaying in Mexico.
She recently also posted a video from that trip which showed her walking naked on a beach.
“There’s no paps here so I run around the island naked!” she said.
