His diet used to consist of fried food and alcohol but several life-changing events over the past couple of years made Ed Sheeran rethink his lifestyle.

Becoming a father was the first big thing, the 32-year-old singer says, and the healthier habits he adopted after the birth of daughter Lyra in August 2020 saw him lose a fair amount of weight. 

The importance of steering his life in a healthier direction was underlined by the death of his best friend, Jamal Edwards, who had a cocaine- and alcohol-induced heart attack in February last year.
