Kim Kardashian has bagged herself a huge new BBC role, but Elizabeth Taylor fans aren’t happy about it.

It has been announced that Kim will appear in and co-produce a new biographical documentary series about the screen legend, titled Elizabeth Taylor: Rebel Superstar.

The BBC series promises to peel back the layers of Liz's life, shining a light on “a superstar who transformed not just Hollywood but fame itself as she went from child star to highest-paid actress in the world".

The series will also give insight into her eight marriages, love life and expensive taste in jewellery.

It will also show “how she reinvented the nature of fame, even as she smashed the glass ceiling in Hollywood, before going on to become a billion-dollar businesswoman, activist and advocate."

Although this won’t be Kim’s first time on screen in a non-reality TV role, Elizabeth Taylor fans aren’t happy about her involvement.

In 2008, Kim starred in the parody film Disaster Movie.

In 2013, she played Ave in the romantic drama Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Counsellor and she lent her vocal talents to the 2021 animated film Paw Patrol: The Movie, voicing sassy poodle Delores.

“I think the character Delores fits me perfectly,” she said at the time, “My kids love Paw Patrol, so it makes me so proud that I’m one of the voices."

Last year, the 43-year-old star appeared in American Horror Story: Delicate, playing former actress-turned-publicist Siobhan Walsh.

While Kim isn't looking to make a full-time career out of acting, she's open to taking on more roles.

She's received criticism for all her role but the Liz Taylor doccie is drawing an especially harsh backlash.

"I feel personally attacked by this . . . It's Elizabeth Taylor! What about some respect?" an irate Taylor fan wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

"Gosh, what a shame! Elizabeth Taylor deserves better," said a second.

While a third went on to write: "What happened to her becoming a lawyer? Yeah, time to move on."

Another added: "What an insult to Elizabeth Taylor."

The three-part series will be broadcast globally.

Kim, who was the last person to interview Elizabeth before her death in 2011 says she feels inspired by the way the icon lived her life.

"Elizabeth Taylor was unapologetically herself, a fighter. She is proof that you can keep evolving and changing and have different chapters in your life – and she paved the way for all of us who came after her with that blueprint."
