She’s never been shy to express herself – and now Madonna plans to let it all out on the big screen.
The material girl is writing and directing her own “untold life story” with Oscar-winning screenwriter Diablo Cody and renowned producer Amy Pascal.
While her life has certainly been colourful, “the focus of this film will always be music”, she says in a statement.
“Music has kept me going and it has kept me alive. There are so many untold and inspiring stories and who better to tell it than me.”
The singer teased the as-yet-untitled project on social media with several shots from her writing sessions with Diablo, who wrote the award-winning film Juno.
Amy is also thrilled to be teaming up with the 62-year-old again, having previously worked with Madonna on the 1992 film A League of Their Own.
Though recent biopics Rocketman and Bohemian Rhapsody saw the involvement of Elton John and the surviving members of Queen, Madonna wants to be more hands-on with her film.
“I want to convey the incredible journey that life has taken me on as an artist, a musician, a dancer – a human being, trying to make her way in this world,” she says.
“It’s essential to share the rollercoaster ride of my life with my voice and vision.”
There’s no word on who will play the queen of pop, but
Miley Cyrus, Margot Robbie and Paris Jackson are fan favourites for the big
role. But we wouldn’t be surprised if Madge herself took it on.

1977’s The Greatest saw the boxing legend play himself as it followed Ali’s life from the 1960 Summer Olympics to regaining the heavyweight crown from George Freeman in the infamous Rumble in the Jungle fight.

The controversial radio host released his film, Private Parts, in 1997, detailing his rise to fame. The movie doesn’t take itself too seriously and the fact Howard is clearly much older than the character he is playing added to its success.
Audie Murphy
To Hell and Back is based on the biography of the most decorated soldier in US history, Audie Murphy, who stars as himself. Audie, who received a medal of honour for his heroics in World War II, became an established actor after the movie.
