First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes a world tour in a gilded carriage.
Except in this case, the carriage is probably a private jet or a first-class ride to pockets of paradise dotted all over the planet. Because when you’re Paris Hilton and money is no object, a honeymoon isn’t a single-destination, few-weeks kind of thing – it’s a multi-stop hop to heaven where luxury is a given, outfits may never be worn twice and sunglasses can’t be round or monochrome.
The hotel heiress and her new husband, venture capitalist Carter Reum, have followed their three-day, no-expense-spared wedding extravaganza with a honeymoon fit for a sparkly, pink-loving princess. And Paris being Paris, she’s sharing it all on her latest YouTube series, My Dream Honeymoon.
“I’ll be documenting my entire travel journey around the world for all of you to see and come along for the ride,” she says.
Paris and Carter (both 40) started the magic in the tropical island of Bora Bora, northwest of Tahiti in French Polynesia – the same stunning location where the pair holidayed to celebrate the 10-month anniversary of their relationship.
The newlyweds stayed in a private villa at the Conrad Bora Bora Nui Resort, one of the ritzy complexes started by Paris’ late hotel-magnate grandfather, Conrad Hilton.
A night at one of these luxurious overwater villas, complete with uninterrupted views of the turquoise lagoon, a floating hammock, king-sized bed and lavish entertainment area, will set you back between R17 000 and R70 000 a night, depending on the size you want and the extras you require.
The high-end luxury Conrad Hotels & Resorts are part of a string of international resorts owned and operated by Hilton Worldwide. The last Conrad property the couple visited was in Las Vegas for their joint bachelor and bachelorette parties.
But if you thought Paris and Carter were enjoying their honeymoon of a lifetime on their own, think again. The bride’s parents, Richard (66) and Kathy (62); brothers, Barron (32) and Conrad (27); Barron’s wife, Tessa (27), and their daughter, Milou (20 months), all came along for the first leg of their honeymoon.
The Hilton clan hung out on a luxury yacht and went snorkelling in crystal-clear waters teeming with stingrays and colourful marine life.
Paris and Carter looked wrapped up in love, packing on the PDA with cuddles, kisses and piggyback rides in the ocean. They frolicked in the turquoise waters in matching black wetsuits, with Paris adding a touch of her usual pink pops of glam.
Since their first stop, the globetrotters have also touched down in tropical Anguilla and the British Virgin Islands. They rung in the New Year and and are continuing their epic seven-week honeymoon at a luxury Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi resort which goes for a whopping R150 000 a night!
"Travelling the world with you for our honeymoon over the past weeks has been a dream come true,” Paris captioned one of her Instagram posts.
The DJ and businesswoman, who’s had her fair share of relationships woes from previous partners, says she’s found her happily ever after with Carter, who makes her feel “loved and happy”. In her reality series Paris in Love, which covers their journey to the altar, she and Carter hint at what their honeymoon might entail.
“I was thinking, go see the Northern Lights, go swim with sperm whales . . .” Carter says of their many options.
“Sperm whale? Ew,” his self-titled “wifey for lifey” responds.
Tough life but someone’s got to live it.
