If it's Halloween you can be sure of one thing: supermodel Heidi Klum will not disappoint. It's not for nothing that she's called the queen of Halloween and over the years she's brought us some truly jaw-dropping outfits. But it seems this year she's outdone herself.

The Making the Cut host dressed up as worm – that’s right, a writhing, wriggly, wrinkled worm! Her entire body was covered in the bizarre costume which only left her eyes and mouth open.

The 49-year-old has been hosting the Heidi Halloween Party for the past two decades with the exception of the last two years because of the pandemic. This year's bash took place in New York City, dubbed the Big Wormy Apple by the supermodel.

Heidi had many followers checking their feed for updates as she posted teasers about her costume before the day. On Sunday, she also told fans she got a fake tan "to prepare for her costume", but it turns out she didn’t need it.

In a behind-the-scenes video Heidi posted on Instagram, she says to artist Mike Marino from Prosthetic Renaissance Inc, who made her entire look, “I have been telling everyone that this is going to be the craziest yet.”

The former Victoria's Secret Angel did not attend her party alone – her husband, Tom Kaulitz, accompanied her dressed up as a fisherman with a wounded eye. The double act saw Tom "hook his worm" – Heidi  – on the blue carpet as he prepared to "fish".

Speaking to Good Morning America, Heidi shares: “Last year I wanted to be a tree and a tree was kinda hard to do so I went from a tree to a worm and Mike didn’t really want to do it at first – because he said he hasn’t done it before and it’s kinda weird. I was like, 'But that’s what makes it fun'."

Heidi made the most of her time in the worm costume as she dropped to the ground to roll and wriggle around like a worm. “I’m just excited that we can all celebrate again. I’m glad that we can all get together again, have fun and see each other’s costumes – that’s always what I’m most excited about,” she adds.

Here's a throwback to some of her best Halloween looks over the past few years:

In 2019, Heidi dressed up as an alien. She went all out with a full prosthetic look and had tubes attached to her nipples and a see-through cover over an "open brain", with some stitches here and there.

In 2018 the model went all green and looked exactly like the ogre version of Fiona from the movie Shrek.

Heidi spent seven hours in makeup and special effects to nail the werewolf Michael Jackson-look in the iconic Thriller music video back in 2017.

Back in 2013 she decided to time-travel to the future where she connected with her 95-year-old self. Besides the wrinkles and the grey hair, she sported a cane and had a rocking chair too for when she got tired.
