It’s no wonder Oprah Winfrey and Gayle King are one of the world’s favourite celebrity BFFs – their friendship has stood the test of time.

The pair are famously known for taking vacations together and recently ticked another beautiful destination off their bucket list: Jordan.

“Yesterday we were in Wadi Rum and today we're in Aqaba,” Oprah says.

“We visited the site where John the Baptist baptised Jesus, Petra and all its fascinations, camels, and the spot where the big boulder comes rolling out in Indiana Jones,” she gushed on social media.

“So much history there in the Rose City, voted one of the 7 new wonders of the world.

"If you've never been there, I'm telling you it is a must, must, must see. Shockingly, astonishingly beautiful."

Although Oprah (69) and Gayle (68) have travelled all over the world, they'd never been on holiday in the Middle East before.

“We're stepping out of our box and going on adventures because it’s 2020-Me, not just 2023,” Oprah says.

The talk show queen always takes Gayle on vacation, Oprah's partner of 36 years, Stedman Graham often joins them.

Their romance "wouldn't have lasted" if he didn't like her best friend, she once shared.

"Because husbands come and go, boyfriends come and go, but best friends last forever."

The two women have been besties for more than four decades.

They met in 1976, when Oprah was a news anchor at a Baltimore TV station and Gayle was working as a production assistant. When a serious snowstorm took the city by surprise, Oprah offered Gayle a place to stay so that she wouldn’t get stranded, even though they barely knew each other.

"We ended up talking all night long," says Oprah, who also gave her pal a toothbrush and a dress for work the next day.

“It was purple with a scoop neck and bell sleeves," Gayle told People. "We've literally been friends ever since."

They're kindred souls, she adds.

“For the first time, I met somebody who I felt was like me. I’d never met anybody like that. Certainly not another black girl. I grew up in an all-white community,” Gayle told O, the Oprah Magazine.

The pair are so close that they've barely had a serious fight in the 46 years they've been friends.

“Something about this relationship feels otherworldly to me, like it was designed by a power and a hand greater than my own,” Oprah writes in O.

“Whatever this friendship is, it’s been a very fun ride – and we’ve taken it together.”
