In case you missed it, Gwyneth Paltrow’s ski-and-run trial has been all the internet’s been talking about lately.
The trial went viral when retired optometrist Terry Sanderson sought $300 000 (about R5,3 million) in damages from the Oscar-winning actress after a ski collision at a resort in Park City, Utah, in 2016.
While some fans tuned in to see Goop founder Gwynnie (50) cleared in the civil trial, her defence attorney, James Egan, found a fan base of his own.
During the two-week trial, James was labelled a hottie, a heartthrob, and was even called Superman's alter ego, Clark Kent, because of his dark hair and spectacles.
“Can he be held against me in a court of law?” someone commented online.
The 37-year-old has caught the attention of everyone from news anchor Katie Couric to fashion columnist Evan Ross Katz for his composed demeanour and striking good looks.
"I've heard that, it's weird,” says James, who works for Utah law firm Epperson & Owens.
His sister, Janie George, says his family is happy that he's finally getting the recognition he deserves.
"@jamesremains is the kindest, most humble guy,” she wrote on Instagram. "So grateful to have him as a big brother. He never wants to be in the spotlight. So this has been incredibly fun for our family to watch him shine. Love you James."
He’s much more than just a pretty face. The attorney, whom fans on social media have dubbed a “law daddy”, graduated magna cum laude from Brigham Young University in 2014.
He's also a keen musician who describes himself as a singer-songwriter, and some of his music is available on Spotify.
Truly blown away by attorney #JamesEgan's musical skills. All kidding aside, make this guy a star. This is what the internet is for. Why should he be slaving away under that odious Owens for the rest of his life when he can jam like this??? https://t.co/TwD6MSYYdH pic.twitter.com/fVePc5ZX8r

“James Egan is my multitalented cousin. I love that people are seeing the great, well rounded person that he is. Musician, father, spouse and great analytical mind,” says his cousin, Amy Harmer.
But while the internet’s been all abuzz, James, who lives in Salt Lake City, can’t wait to get back to normal. The legal eagle admits that he's looking forward to getting back home to his wife and one-year-old son.
"He had his birthday during the trial. I haven't seen him, he just learned to walk," the proud dad says.
