Britney Spears relationship with her younger sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, has been strained in recent years. From perplexing Instagram and X (formerly known as Twitter) posts to heartbreaking interviews and memoir releases, at the heart of it all is the tension about Britney's long-running conservatorship battle, which ended last year.

Jamie Lynn (32) addressed it recently while appearing as a contestant on I'm a Celebrity: Get Me Out of Here! "I think every family fights and has their stuff but I talked to her before I came here and we love each other," she said when asked about her big sister.

This was Jamie Lynn's first public statement following the release of Britney's memoir, The Woman in Me.

In the book published in October 2023, Britney (41) wrote about her strained relationship with Jamie Lynn, saying she “felt betrayed” by her family.

"My sister and I should have found comfort in each other but unfortunately that hasn't been the case," she wrote. "As I was fighting the conservatorship and receiving a lot of press attention, she was writing a book capitalising on it. She rushed out salacious stories about me, many of them hurtful and outrageous. I was let down.

"Shouldn't sisters be able to confess their fear or vulnerability to each other without that later being used as evidence of instability?"

She said she felt as though Jamie Lynn was unaware of her hardships.

Britney was referring to her sister's memoir, Things I Should Have Said, released in January 2022. In her book, Jamie Lynn shared details about her strained relationship with Britney.

She writes, “We were a tightknit family torn apart by money, distorted truths and undisclosed personal issues.

Britney and her sister used to be close, but their relationship was strained because of a court document that came out in 2020, which named Jamie Lynn as one of the executors of Britney's trust and therefore responsible for distributing funds to Sean and Jayden in the event of Britney’s death.

This trust was set up in 2004 to protect the superstar’s financial assets for her children.

Following the revelation, the sisters waged social media war in now-deleted posts.

However, by the end of last year, they seemed to have resolved their differences. Britney even posted pictures of her sister on her birthday.

"It's my b-day but you're my heart, so I'm thinking about you . . . Congratulations on being so brave, inspiring and showing guts and glory in your show. You ain’t alone … if anybody knows what that feels like, I get it. My baby sister!!! I love you !!!"

Earlier this year, Jamie Lynn gave an update on her relationship with Britney.

During an interview with Variety, she said she loves every single member of her family. "If I learned anything from last year, being so open and feeling like I had to defend myself sometimes, I don’t feel like there’s anything else I need to say," she said. "I just have to leave it where it is because those conversations are meant to be personal. All I can focus on now is my girls, my husband, and the work that I’m doing."

Although Jamie Lynn says the two are on good terms, Britney hasn't yet commented.
