It was a small affair by Hollywood standards – a wedding officiator, a handful of guests and a DJ in the Mayan forest.

But for Vanessa Hudgens it was the perfect day.

The actress recently tied the knot with her baseball player fiancé Cole Tucker at the lush Azulik City of Arts in Tulum, Mexico in a private ceremony attended by 100 family and friends.

“I knew I’d never been to a wedding that I’ve wanted my own wedding to be like, so I had to think out of the box,” Vanessa told Vogue.

While many brides are concerned with finding the perfect dress, for Vanessa finding the perfect venue was her top priority.

“I knew I didn’t want to do it at a beach, at a ballroom, or at a barn, these were all things I didn’t want. Instead, I wanted to be surrounded by nature, greenery, and foliage,” she says.

The High School Musical star discovered her wedding venue via Instagram, and once she saw it in person, it was love at first sight.

“I knew that it was our place,” she says. “I felt like I was transported to some kind of utopia, unlike anything I had ever been to before. It was whimsical and magical, and I just fell in love."

When she walked down the aisle and saw Cole (27), Vanessa (34) became very emotional, she says.

“I literally keeled over when I saw Cole and had to take a big breath and had to force myself to keep walking because I could have dropped to the floor."

The lovebirds wrote their own heartfelt vows.

“It is the most beautiful thing ever in a relationship to be that open and vulnerable and raw in front of all of the people you love proclaiming your love. It’s just beautiful. I loved it,” she says.

To make the occasion extra-special the wedding was officiated by British-Indian author Jay Shetty, who introduced them to each other in 2020.

The lovebirds went public with their relationship on Valentines Day 2021 and in February this year Cole proposed at the Eiffel Tower in Paris.

For their big day, the bride wore a Vera Wang ivory cowl neck slip dress with a plunging back and a custom veil embroidered with their initials and wedding date.

Her husband was dashing in a Me by Canali off-white double-breasted suit and Louboutin shoes.

For the reception, Vanessa slipped into a sexy sheer dress.

The newlyweds hired a live band and a DJ and guests danced the night away to a playlist compiled by her husband.

“He included all of the bangers and classics from Nelly to Eminem,” Vanessa says proudly.

“We danced for a while, then we had late-night snacks, like grilled cheese and pizza. And then we had it all wrapped up by 11pm.”
