When she won Idols SA in 2005, it was like a fairytale – a fruit-picker from Grabouw in the Western Cape rising above the competition to dominate the biggest talent contest in the country.

But bad luck in love and rocky times in her career would follow and for a while it seemed the fairytale had ended. But Karin Kortjé has another chance at her happily-ever-after now – and it’s all thanks to the dashing policeman she lost her heart to six years ago.

Karin (44) and Angelo Makka (39) tied the knot recently at the Kronenburg Estate outside Paarl on an afternoon bathed in sunshine and filled with love.
