I recently read a message sent by a friend that made me pause. “We must use time wisely,” it read, “and forever realise that the time is always ripe to do right.”

It’s a quote from Nelson Mandela, who certainly knew the value of time after spending so many years behind bars – and who knew a thing or two about doing what’s right.

It’s a lovely reminder from one of the world’s wisest men that every day is filled with opportunity. A chance to either make the most of the time you have or to do something that makes the world a better place.

It's so easy to look back and think about all the what ifs and lament the if onlys. We read so many stories about people who, on their deathbeds, talk about the things they wish they'd done and would do if they could go back.

But you can decide today not to let another moment slip away. Not to let another chance pass you by. Not to have something you'll regret when you no longer have the time.

So go tell the special someone you love them if there’s even the smallest chance it could lead to everlasting love.

Book that adventure that makes you feel like you have a million butterflies in your belly when you think of it.

Say sorry to the person you’re angry at for reasons you can’t even quite remember or apologise to the ones you’ve hurt even if it’s years ago.
