In case you blinked and missed it, we’re almost at the end of October. That means all manner of spooky and scary things as Halloween rolls around.

If you’re still trawling through Pinterest for adorable Halloween costume ideas for the doggos in your life, Doug the Pug is here to help.

The celeb dog-fluencer from Tennessee, who has a whopping 4 million followers on Instagram and almost 6 million likes on Facebook, has shared his Halloween looks on Insta, including classics like a skeleton costume, a spooky ghost and newer looks, like the yellow raincoat worn by unlucky Georgie in the movie It.

Doug was number two on Forbes magazine’s most influential pet list in 2018 and won the People’s Choice award for Animal Star last year – so he knows what he’s paws-ting about.

He’s even appeared in a Fall Out Boy music video, and with a little help from his owner, Leslie Mosier, he’s also a New York Times best-selling author.

Doug took Leslie as his human in 2012, and like any proud fur parent, she shared snaps of him on her Instagram, which quickly racked up more likes than pics of herself.

A natural in front of the camera, she decided it was time for a page dedicated to all things Doug and started @itsdougthepug on Instagram.

“It was just Doug and I in my old, crappy apartment. I was picking out outfits for him to wear – he’s always liked wearing clothes – and driving around Nashville to find a place to take a picture. I’d take it, edit it and suddenly it has 50 000 people liking it and sharing it,” Leslie says.

"I would have these photoshoots of Doug and email the big Instagram accounts that I thought he could be featured on, like Pugs of Instagram. On my account at the time, it might get 500 to 1 000 likes. But on their account, it would get 40 000 to 50 000 likes.”

It wasn’t long before Doug grabbed the attention of magazines like Time and Cosmopolitan, and he soon won the hearts of dog lovers across the world.

“We truly want to brighten someone’s day,” Leslie says.

Here’s our pick of the cutest and coolest outfits for your furry friends, inspired by this social-media superstar:
