Their transformations into beloved Disney characters have won them hundreds of thousands of fans around the world and it’s hard to imagine that one half of the mom-and-daughter duo had to take a huge leap of faith to appear on screen.

That’s because half of Joanne Tronconi’s face, lips, neck and right arm appear to be severely bruised and swollen.

She has a rare condition called Klippel-Trenaunay (KT) Weber syndrome, which affects the development of blood vessels and soft tissues such as skin and muscles, and bones.
