For many they’re simply disgusting, something to be rid of as soon as humanly possible. But for Cedric Laquieze they’re a source of inspiration and material for his craft.

The Amsterdam-based artist takes the dead bodies of beetles, butterflies and other insects and gives them new life by transforming them into fairy sculptures.

He can sometimes combine the body parts of up to 10 insects when designing one of his creations, and for him the beauty of it all is that no two sculptures are ever the same.
