After years of being told that she's the spitting image of Britney Spears, Allegra DuVal (35), from Virginia in the US, decided to turn her likeness into a side hustle and now it's a full-time gig.
The professional dancer, who studied ballet, tap, jazz and lyrical dancing, has been touring the US lip-syncing Britney’s hits. She charges approximately $3 000 (R57 000) for a one-night performance and she's shared the stage with David Guetta, Skrillex, Nelly, and Deadmau5.
Even though she only lip-syncs Britney's music, her fans are enthralled by her choreography and the swift transitions between her 26 outfits.
Most of her income comes from the performances and posting lookalike content for brands on social media.
“After my first few performances I started making costumes, built a website, and started promoting myself as a Britney performer,” she says.
“Now I’ve been to like 30 different places around the country performing her hits."
Allegra has never met the pop star, but she's been a fan for years.
In 2018, she gave her first Britney impression at Dancer Pride, and in 2021, she landed her first booking as a Britney impersonator for a birthday party.
“It takes a lot more work than people realise - prepping hair and costumes, keeping up my spray tan, nails and makeup and learning choreography,” she says.
She stays in shape with pilates, yoga, and belly dancing to match Britney's toned body and to be able to execute her high-intensity dance routines.
“A lot of what I have to do behind the scenes is staying really fit, I workout every day."
Allegra says she puts in a lot of effort because she believes she has a responsibility to maintain Britney's reputation and live up to the demands of her fans.

“I really want people to know that I do this with all the integrity that I have and all the respect that I have, and I work my butt off to represent her well, in a positive light, because Britney is an icon."
