She used to be terrified of heights and water, but after overcoming cancer in 2008, she decided she didn't want to allow her fears to hold her back.

Slowly but surely Petro Prinsloo, a teacher in Hartenbos in the Western Cape, pushed herself to confront her phobias, and over time she felt less afraid.

The children in her grade RR class admired her persistence, and so when she turned 65 in September, they knew just what to get her. Instead of getting her a gift voucher for a spa treatment they decided to treat her to a skydiving experience.
