They’d been married for six years when they found out they were going to have their first child and they were delighted. 

Ika van Wyk’s father, Sakkie van der Vyver, had recently passed away and they decided they wanted to bring new life and fresh joy into their world. So when little James was born they were thrilled – but it didn’t take long for the harsh reality of new parenthood to hit home.
