East London teen runs 252km and conquers Lesotho mountains for a good cause

His mom used to beg him to step away from his screen and get outside for some fresh air. One day he decided to listen to her, and he's never looked back.

Joel Smith (19) and his father, Martin (54), recently ran 252km over five days from the Lesotho’s capital, Maseru, to the town of Qacha’s Nek. It was all in aid of The Kings Children's Home, a non-profit organisation that takes care of 70 abandoned babies and small children in Glen Eden on the outskirts of East London.
