He’d dropped off lunch at her workplace and was planning to surprise her with a meal at a restaurant that evening. Just before home time, he’d sent her a message saying he was planning to spoil her a bit. But Kirsty James would never get the message.
“It was 3.26pm and she didn’t respond. I decided to call her just before 4pm, but she didn’t answer. Then I got the call to go to her workplace,” her partner, Monray Josias (33), tells YOU.
He’d just picked up their daughter, Aliyah Josias (2), from crèche and was on his way to pick up Kirsty, an office assistant at NDK Valuers in Mossel Bay, when a family member called to say Kirsty had been attacked at work and he needed to get there fast.

At first he thought she’d been injured in a robbery.
“When I arrived at the office, they wouldn’t let me in,” Monray says.
“I saw her lying there and there was a lot of blood. I thought she was still alive because it looked to me like they’d tried hard to stop the bleeding.”
Kirsty reportedly died on her way to hospital.
A colleague had allegedly stabbed Kirsty more than 30 times after Kirsty had accused her of stealing more than R30 000 from the company.
In response to YOU’s request for comment, Sunette Grobler, spokesperson for NDK Valuers told YOU they won’t be commenting on the incident at this stage.
Police have since arrested a 32-year-old woman, who’s appeared in the magistrate’s court in Mossel Bay, says Sergeant Christopher Spies of the Mossel Bay police. The case has been postponed until 31 October while she's remains in custody.
Spies says police have established that the victim was at work when the suspect walked in and attacked her, but the investigation is ongoing.
A police source revealed that the blade of the knife had broken off in Kirsty’s body during the attack and the suspect also sustained a stab wound to her hand.
Meanwhile, speaking to YOU by phone from Mossel Bay, Monray says he’s still in shock. He and Kirsty had been planning to get married and he’d been looking forward to spending the rest of his life with her.
“She was the most beautiful person in the world and wouldn’t hurt a fly. I don’t know how I’m going to make it without her. We were together for eight years,” he says.
“I guess I’ll just have to shoulder more responsibility. It helps that my sister is our daughter’s godmother. She and my mom are helping a lot. I need to stay strong for my little girl.”
