Every Saturday morning during the term, a group of children gather in a one-room shack in Philippi in Cape Town to listen to Sindeka Mandoyi read. 

There isn’t much room and the kids sit almost on top of one another but no one cares – because soon they’re taken away to a world where everything is possible, no matter where you come from.

For two hours they visit magical faraway lands and meet fantastical creatures, forgetting about all the challenges and harsh realities of life in their community.
