He’s dog mad to put it mildly so it’s little wonder James Middleton (33) will do anything to help his mutts cool down when the heat gets too much.
So when the UK was embroiled in a heatwave this week, the younger brother of the Duchess of Cambridge didn’t hesitate to put his beloved golden retriever, Mabel, into a makeshift pool.
In a
video he shared with his 150 000 fans on Instagram, the dog was seen soaking
contentedly in a plastic container filled with fresh water while James hosed
her down to the tune of The Merrymen’s Feeling Hot Hot Hot.
“It’s so important to keep your dogs safe and cool during hot weather! Here’s how Mabel likes to cool down!” he captioned it.
He
also shared some tips with his fans, which included “never leaving a dog in a
hot car ever!”
He and his fiancée, French financial expert Alizee Thevenet (29), have had a busy summer filled with pooch love. In May one of James’ dogs, Luna, had six puppies and he recently had to say goodbye to them as they headed to their new homes. “I might cry,” he admitted.
“56
days ago you were born, 56 days of early starts, lots of poo and half eaten
socks but 56 days of pure joy watching you grow. But now it’s time for you go,”
he wrote.
“You might be scared at first, that’s ok. Just be yourself and you will never understand how much happiness you will bring to your new families and all the people you meet. Make me proud & remember to write.”
In April he also announced the launch of his Paw Print Fund, which will help animal welfare charities during the current coronavirus pandemic.
“With
this in mind today I’m launching The Paw Print Fund in aid of animal welfare
charities who support our nations animals & pets, be it helping to raise
vital funds enabling these charities to continue with there amazing work and
also support pet owners who have been affected by the pandemic and maybe
struggling to look after their pets,” he continued.
“Together, we can help support pets and their owners, helping them stay in their homes and prevent rescue centres from being overwhelmed.”
