So here’s the story with earrings right now; they have always been known to go together like identical twins (size, colour and length), however, things have changed.

Gone are the days where earrings are expected to dangle in corresponding pairs or to fit the mould of the twins that look awfully awkward without the other or unattractively amiss if not presented as a matching set. And we like it just like that.

Here are three earrings trends to try this summer:

1. Single is a thing

We’re hoping this comes as a relief, especially if you have dozens of lone earrings floating around. You will be pleased to know that the misfortune of losing a single earring has now become a trend.

We also love these beauties from H&M, R179. Wear one at a time for an ultra chic look.

2. Opposites attract

Play the game of opposites using non-identical pieces. Easily achieve this look using earrings of differing lengths, proportions and textures. There is no set way of getting this right, so start creating a few magical combinations.

3. Larger than life

If size has never mattered before, it sure does now because this summer calls for ear pieces that are large and in charge. Big beaded florals and longer layers of draping tassels are changing the game and are here to stay.

Allow them to take center stage by being the focal point of your looks. Life’s a party when you are not afraid to occasionally experiment with the big and the bold!

For a glam work look, go for this pair from Lovisa.
