Boity Thulo was crowned as the Sexiest female in South Africa twice in a row, so it should come as no surprise that her picture almost caused a Twitter crash recently.
The photo of her behind emerged on social media after the annual Marie Claire naked issue hit shelves, and there was an overwhelmingly positive response from the image. It even resulted in #BoityReaction trending on twitter.
Here are some of the funniest reactions that we saw:
The butt has gained lots of popularity lately.
The fact that the “belfie” (butt selfie) became and still is a thing illustrates this. For a long time naked campaigns, for example, focused on the top half of the female body in making some sort of statement.
Although both Nicole Kidman’s and Rihanna’s recent naked shoots still show that the topless trend is not entirely dead.
Nicole pulled herself towards her topless self for the Jimmy Choo campaign in January and Rihanna also proved that indeed she had become a good girl gone bad when she bared all of her upper lady bits for the MAC Viva Glam campaign.
However firstcoastnews.com confirmed the popularity of the budding bottom obsession this month by labelling the “belfie” as the latest celebrity trend.
The Urban and Macmillan dictionaries did not throw shade on the “belfie” either as they have included the phenomenon in their glossaries.
Even the gorge Channing Tatum has no skaam in showing off his lovely bottom either. One cannot forget the images of him and Matthew McConaughey’s chiselled, um, gifts in Magic Mike. That film was, and still is, that guilty pleasure that one cannot get enough of.
Where does the emerging booty craze come from? Is it another one of Freud’s theories concerning complexes, repression and envy that he that he forgot to mention?
Or does the love for the butt come from the fact that the bum is something worth lol’ing about in a life that is already hard filled with existential crisis after another?
