Marked by P.C. Cast; Kristin Cast
Zoey Montgomery is just your normal 16 year old girl trying to fit in at school to forget how much she doesn’t fit in at home, until she’s marked by a tracker to start the change into a vampire. She lands up at the House of Night school for vampires in training and starts her new life as a fledgling vampire. With a few differences...
Her Cherokee heritage and an unconscious run-in with the Goddess of Night, Nyx, has left her with out of the ‘ordinary’ traits.
As Zoey struggles to fit in and just be normal, she soon realises that she has to accept the cards fate has dealt her and be her extraordinary self. With a new group of friends, a human ex-almost-love interest a new vampire love interest, public enemy no. 1 Barbie b*tch on Zoey’s poopie (her word not mine) list, and a good dose of mystery, danger, intrigue and good old-fashioned good wins over evil, life just isn’t what it used to be for Zoey.
I couldn’t put this book down – and now that I have, I’m desperately sad that I don’t yet have the second one to pick up. If you can get over hip teenage slang and words like “gihugic” (gigantically huge), this book has everything for a lover of fantasy, drama, vampire lore, self-discovery, romance and adventure!
What a great way to wean me off my Twilight fix. I can’t wait for the bittersweet satisfaction of finishing the entire House of Night series.
