How to exude effortless travel elegance: on a freezing weekend away

accreditation
Packing light in winter can seem like a challenge.  Your suitcase can get overfilled very quickly with big bulky layers to stay warm.

Here are a few tips to make packing light super easy:

Thin layers versus big bulky layers: A few thin layers create just as much, if not more warmth than bulky layers.  Packing a few thin layering tops is much easier to pack than a bulky jersey. You can also re-wear the upper layers, which means you won’t have to pack as many things.

Stretch fabrics offer comfort without loosing shape:  It’s easy to get stuck in the rut in winter of wearing big baggy clothing for comfort. Clothing that is made of stretch fabric offers comfort without loosing the shape.  Instead of wearing a big baggy top, try a stretch cotton top. Wearing shapely clothing always looks better, no matter where you are going.

Items to remember: To keep cozy in the cold, don’t forget a warm scarf, hat or beanie, thick socks and gloves. This is when chunky is good. Think warm knits and faux fur.

Wear your bulkiest layers on route: Wear your jacket or jersey, scarf and hat. That way you won’t have to pack them.

Only take the shoes you need: Shoes take up a lot of space, so decide on a comfy pair and wear them on route. If you need a second pair for hiking or running, put them in a plastic bag, before putting them in your case to keep your case and clothing clean.

Simplify your cosmetics: Decant them into smaller containers to save space and only take what you really need. Don’t forget to take plenty of moisturizer and lip balm to keep your skin hydrated.
