The kids know there’s no throwing away before asking mom if it can be recycled. They pretty much know now what can and what can’t (very little).
There are so many recycling drop off depots around that it’s easy to empty the bins on a regular basis. And let me tell the crowds who say they don’t use a lot of plastic – I challenge them to try recycling for just 3 days.
That’s about enough time to get through the milk, juice, plastic bread bag, polystyrene and the fruit and veggie bags. I’m willing to bet my last Rand that their plastic bucket will be overflowing long before the rest! (Well perhaps the bottle bin too depending on how much wine you consume.
There really is no excuse not to recycle.
It’s just getting in to the habit. You don’t have to buy separate bins just hang up separate plastic bags. Pop your goodies in there and when the bags are full, pop them in the boot and drop them off at your nearest depot (I’m sure there is a list of depots online).
And if you’re really in a pickle – find a Woollies. Don’t they all have recycling bins outside their stores? Well, not in malls but you know what I mean.
Happy recycling!
