Kinkiest book you've ever read?

accreditation
Many women seem to be ashamed of admitting that they love reading sexy fiction

Let's face it.

We do read these books, but most of us would rather be caught reading Pride and Prejudice, than say, My Darcy Vibrates (I kid you not. This book actually does exist. I browsed through Kalahari.com's erotica section to check this out for you. You’re welcome.).

So in the spirit of oversharing, we put the question out there to our readers and asked them to tell us about the sexiest works of fiction they've ever read and what titillating reads they'd recommend to women who've never delved into this genre before.

Here are their responses:

Says Cheryl:

Being in my 60s I recall reading DH Lawrence’s Lady Chatterley's Lover in my youth, which was considered really raunchy in those days!  Imagine my surprise and delight when Sons and Lovers was one of our set books at school.

Apart from the explicit sex scenes in his books, Lawrence’s writing style is brilliant and  the subject matter is about a search for integrity and the baffling relationship with women.

These are books that deserve another read and I’ll put them on my ‘to do’ list.
I will always recall a beautiful description in his essays on Flowery Tuscany – he describes anemones ‘with the tender panting glow of living membrane just come awake’. This may not be word perfect but it’s delightful and the undercurrent of sex is always there!

Terry  has also succumbed to the 50 Shades phenomenon:

I loved 50 Shades of Grey and read it straight off in half a day, ordering the other 2 in the trilogy. A lot of the Black Lace Books are pretty good too. There's a lot of detailed sex to get you all hot & steamy.
This from an OAP!

Melanie reckons:

Definitely the Highlander Series from Karen Marie Moning

Bev couldn't put the 50 Shades trilogy down:

I have to admit that the trilogy of 50 Shades has to be the 3 raunchiest books I have ever read.  I didn't much enjoy Ana's "angst" in the beginning but once the sex started, I couldn't put it down.  I have recommended them to all my friends whose married life is lagging in the bedroom; so far with great results.

Carol is a huge fan of Laurel K Hamilton's work:

I wouldn't quite put it under raunchy but it does have quite a few sex scenes especially her later work in the series - I'm talking about Laurel K Hamilton's series of Anita Blake vampire hunter.

And I love it. The sex scenes embarrass the heck out of me but still I'm hooked.

Our Facebook fans weighed in as well:

Mariska:  All books by Elora's Cave :)

Dikeledi : Yes I have a collection of erotic books and they are quite amazing. I've never been ashamed of them.

Nadine: I don't know if this is considered raunchy enough but I love authors Kresley Cole, JR Ward, Larissa Ione and Gena Showalter. Hot stuff.

Zahn-Michelle Abreu: The True Blood Series by Charlaine Harris. It's not particularly well written but it is an easy read.

Rene: Any book by Johanna Lindsey.

Tanya: Tipping The Velvet

Patricia: A classic – The Diary of Fanny Hill.

Right. Now that we've shared, it's time for you to join in. What are the hottest books you've read? Come on, don't be shy now.
