Carlyle also known as the author of Dead of Night, The Broken Destiny, Evanescent and Absolution to name a few – started the South African Indies Rock initiative because of her struggle to becoming a South African published author.
SAIR is a book festival aimed at being a place where self-published to traditionally published writers are seen as equal players in the industry, a place where they can find hope, inspiration and the resources they need to help them along the exciting journey of being recognised in their craft.
Frustrated by the lack of support and enthusiasm about all things reading and writing in South Africa her message of ‘stand loud and proud for what you believe in and you should believe in yourself and not be scared of your unique voice’ will be the core focus of this endeavour.
Carlyle used writing as a healing tool and that is why she started her very own writers support event - SAIR book festival and hopes to make SAIR a destination where everyone feels connected, celebrated and rewarded for their passions.
"To be a helping hand for those who strive to become full times writers, editors, bloggers, readers and cover artists - it’s a crazy world out there you don’t have to go it alone!"
