This is a very disappointing remark from a magazine that is not only owned by Oprah Winfrey, whose weight has been publicly criticised now for years, but which also tries to inspire everyone, regardless of who you are, what you look like and where you come from.
According to Buzzfeed, Brooklyn-based writer, Tamar Anitai, came across O Magazine’s recent ‘advice’ in a Style Q&A by the magazine’s creative director, Adam Glassman.
Anitai then took to Instagram to share a photo of the magazine's terrible advice, sparking a bold movement of over 4, 000 women already - of all shapes and sizes - posting selfies, in which they proudly (and might I add), beautifully, bared their midriff in a crop top along with the hashtag, #rockthecrop.
The bold #rockthecrop movement proves that women everywhere are becoming increasingly accepting and conscious of who they are, regardless of size, age and skin tones.
Heard a writer for @O_Magazine said only wear a #croptop if youve got a flat stomach. Missed the memo. #RockTheCrop pic.twitter.com/zMjdZMQTki

"Stop telling women what they CAN’T wear,” Anitai says in protest in her Instagram post.
Wear what you love, what makes you feel confident, and own it.
Well said. Tamar!
Confidence is the most elegant and timeless accessory a woman can wear. We’d like you to dress yourself in confidence and share your #rockthecrop selfie with us.
