The recent Chanel Autumn/Winter 2016/17 collection made my eyes pop at Karl’s latest rendition of the classic pencil skirt. All the knee length pencil skirts had added side slits. This made it able for the models to glide down the ramp with ease giving the skirts movement and finesse.
The side slits completely change the look of a pencil skirt as they offer more balance to a woman’s hips than a pencil skirt that is traditionally narrowed at the hem.
Nervous that side slits will flash too much leg? Karl has a solution for that too. The length of the skirts sit discreetly on the knee, meaning the slits are unlikely to ride up high when you sit down. But, just to make sure, you can always opt for one with zips in the slits, so you can adjust them accordingly.

Now, I’m sure you are thinking it’s great for those who can afford Chanel, but what about the rest of us? I’m confident that this style will filter down to large retail stores at reasonable price points. Soon you too will be able to relish in “designer wear” without breaking your budget.
Until then, it’s fun to lust after the original. Thank you, Karl.
