Hair trends to consider

Pre-school hair

We've been saying this for a while, though. Scrunchies, barrette clips, hair clamps and even '90s hair bobbles are back.

Shop:

Essentials Sleepies Red 6 clips, R 22,99. Clicks.

Scrunchies, @Shopstealinglucy, R60.

All about a bit of texture. ????????#scrunchies #velvet #shop #capetown #vintage

Velvet headbands and headwear

Keep your tresses out of your face and your head warm (and beautifully decorated) with some crushed velvet. Crushed velvet is winter's fabric of choice, and it really does make one feel fancy...

Shop:

Burgundy headband, R80,65. Woolworths.

Seventies hair

The bowl cut is life. Similar to the undercut, the bowl cut has no step, it just ends bluntly.

Wedding hair

I'm loving the comeback of baby's breath, and think all brides, even Meghan Markle should wear their hair loosely curled, tousled even, and decorate it with this subtle but effective flower.

Makeup trends to try now

Yellow eyeshadow

Showcased at Fenty's spring 2018 runway show notes Allure.com, mellow yellow for eyes is something to try. Rihanna says so, so then it has to be a vibe.

Keep things cheerful with a touch of bright yellow, mustard or even gold for party nights.

Shop:

NYX Professional Makeup Prismatic Eyeshadow Gilded, R99,95. Clicks.

Graphic eyeliner

It's back.

Flick that liner or go OTT graphic while leaving the rest of your makeup understated.

Silver, crystals and glitter

It doesn't have to be party season (aka end of year) to wear sparkles on your face. Add a touch of magic with some silver shadow, crystals or glitter.

Allure.com suggests using Elizabeth Arden's 8 hour cream as a base, adding glitter or crystals on top.

High-shine gloss

This '90s lip staple was just dying to return, and it has, with a vengeance. Now it's all about high shine and it's more reflective than ever.

Shop:

This is my favourite lip gloss of all time, Lancôme L'Absolu Gloss Cream, R380. Red Square.

Or for a budget option, try the Revlon Ultra HD Lacquer, R179.
