And while, yes, it’s been over done and badly done, subtle contouring is a clever make-up trick that can make your cheek bones pop and give your face a whole new level of wow.

If you’re still yet to master the big C, let bareMinerals make-up artist Hayley Wicks break it down for you.

It’s really, really easy to do. I think the key with contouring is to remember that on social media it’s normally done with creamy products, it’s done under lighting, and on video it doesn’t look as strong as it could look in everyday life.

But the key to it is, if you want to use cream products, take whatever tone you think you need and go a little bit lighter. Keep it really soft and more like a shadow than anything else.

Contouring with powder is also effective, and Hayley advises going down this route if you want a softer finish.

Powders are what I like to us. Creams will always be stronger, because they give that slightly fuller coverage. But if you do want to contour and keep it quite natural looking I would say think about going for powders.

For the actual contouring of your cheeks, roll your make-up brush down the cheek so it sits directly underneath the bone. Then draw a line from the cartilage of the ear right down to the end of the eye. You can use a bronzer for this, and it will give the impression that your cheeks are a little bit more sunken in and the cheekbone is a bit defined. Just keep going over and over until you feel that you’ve got that line, then blend, blend, blend.
