I happened across the above video suggesting how to apply magnetic lashes and I was like “Whaaat?! This is a thing?”
I’ve never seen or heard of magnetic lashes before, but according to The Glow Up, they’ve been around since about 2016. Why have I not seen more about this? Is this like an open secret in the beauty world or something?

Anyway, I decided to do some research on magnetic lashes and what they’re like. I don’t wear falsies myself really, but I thought it would be pretty interesting to try them out if the mood ever struck me again.
The last time I applied the traditional ones for a dress up party I went to, I was not impressed with the glue situation and still finding bits of goo in my eye even when I thought I had washed my face thoroughly.
So, magnetic lashes vary depending on whether you buy name brand or generic ones just like if you had glue lashes, but the basic premise is that you have two sets of lashes both with magnets on them and you need to apply them in the right order as they need to connect to each other.
According to Today.com, lash brand Ardell recommends applying mascara to your own lashes first and then applying the false ones as it will give them better grip. They’re not easy to apply at first because you have to get used to positioning each lash, etc. But they are more convenient than glue lashes and are reusable, plus there’s less danger of you accidentally ripping out your lashes with this method.

They’re also easier to remove by just separating the top and bottom and pulling them away from each other. Never slide them straight off says Instyle. Magnetic lashes are also great if you have sensitive skin or eyes but still want fuller lashes.
