Roll out those wrinkles!

accreditation
Hi girls!

Have any of you heard about the Dermaroller?

Despite looking like a medieval torture device, this little gadget's making a real splash in the beauty biz. Especially since several glossies have reported that Ms. Jolie is a bit of a secret fan. (Apparently it was recommended to her by her hubby, Brad, who used it to treat his acne scars...)

Essentially a spiky roller-ball on a stick, you're to run it over your face, creating a million zillion "micro-pricks". This in turn creates "damage" which forces your skin to zap into "repair mode", stimulating new collagen growth.

Now, if you want to give it a bash, you should be warned that it's important you be a little choosy when it comes to picking your poison. The web is awash with inferior quality imitations that make use of cheap 'n nasty spikes that tend to bend. And when they do, they end up getting caught in your skin – much like fish hooks! Quelle horreur!

So, if you're feeling the need for needles, I strongly recommend you make an appointment with a qualified aesthetician who can show you the ropes as well as recommend a dermaroller that's safe for home use. (To find a salon offering the treatment in your area, use the key word "micro-needling" when you Google.)

Now, let's talk new product!

Are any of you Labello lovers? If so, you'll be pleased to know their tinted Star Fruits variant has gotten a 2010 makeover. Available in Strawberry and Cherry, it's now called Labello Fruity Shine, R15,99, boasts an SPF of 10 and is enriched with fruit extracts and shimmering pigments.

Having given the product a test drive, I can tell you that you won't actually see those "shimmering pigments" on your lips. However, you'll notice that once you've slicked it on, this particular balm makes your lips will look a lot more "juicy" when compared to its predecessor. It's just the thing if you want to give your lips a subtle kiss of colour without having to look in the mirror every time you want to apply it. (Or to get away with rocking rose-tinted lippies at school...)

I also got to take a sneak peek at The Body Shop's new Flutter & Flirt Collection due to launch later this month. It includes two limited edition lip glosses (pink and coral), a rose-coloured lip stain and, the piece de resistance, the Kiss of Colour Cheek Blush, R195.

Now, if you like your beauty fuss-free, innovative and too cute too boot, this is the blush to crave. You can't see it in this piccie, but the blush itself lives in the lid. As for the "pouf", it's actually spring-hinged, much like a stamp. To apply it, simply press the pouf to the apples of your cheeks to create a soft, pretty flush in a flash. Available in Vibrant Rose and Golden Coral, I was lucky enough to be given the latter, but not for long... It was quickly snatched away by Tammy, our resident Body Shop fanatic, who'll be writing a full review for the Beauty Reviews page due up later this month.

If any of you also happen to be a Body Shop groupie like Tam, be sure to make a point of swinging into store. They've got an exciting new promotion going on in that they've resurrected a few of your favourite Bath n' Body all-stars from the 80's. Yip, classics like their Dewberry Body Lotion and Banana Shampoo and Conditioner are back. And the best bit? Their prices are retro too - exactly R60 a pop!

Love, love

Leigh
