Personality and 'clicking' with your supplier plays a huge part in the success of your planning. You can find out very quickly which suppliers to add to your shopping list.
You need to make a personal connection at the show so don't be put off a supplier if they are busy with someone else; wait for them to finish with the previous bride – remember you plan to stay all day.
If a stand is very busy make a note of it and move on, you can go back to it later.
When you do talk to them find out if they are available for your date and what their cost structures are as this will save you time and disappointment.
Remember that bridal expos can be as overwhelming for the stand holder as for the bride so if you don't get their attention immediately remember that every wedding supplier at the show would like to talk to you and every bride there (which isn't realistic) but they are there to win your business.
Keep an eye out for competitions on the stands and listen for announcements of larger more inclusive competitions as winning them can save you money!
If you don't have a wedding planning book, keep your eye out for stands selling these and also check any magazines etc, given out at the show. Some shows like The Wedding Expo give a free bridal magazine to each bride-to-be; this includes a wedding planner, budget and notes section which can prove very handy for the duration of your planning.
Make time to attend any workshops being offered as these can provide you with great ideas and insight into planning your special day.
Don’t make a final decision on your wedding gown until you have watched the fashion shows for the day; take notes as you watch so that you know which dress was your favourite and who the designer was – you can visit the designer after the show and book time with them for fittings.
Bring your fiancé with you particularly if he is involved in the planning. If you meet a supplier you really like, you can make decisions on the spot, pay deposits and secure your date in their calendar.
