After getting engaged earlier in the year, Viennese Stanton wanted to have a big fairytale wedding this coming April.
But instead she held her wedding ceremony in a hospital as a surprise for her dying father, who’s suffering from leukemia.
She wrote in a post on the Love What Matters Facebook page that she pushed her wedding day up so her father could celebrate the day with her.
Viennese, from California in the US, wrote that her father’s condition was declining rapidly and he was recently placed in hospice. He was even given a few weeks to live but he’s still fighting.
“He still has the will, the spunk, and the humour to be completely alive,” she said.
With the help of the nurse team at the University of California, San Francisco Medical Center, they were able to plan the entire wedding.
“The nurse team kept the wedding a secret from my Dad, so this whole day was a surprise to him. He thought I was going to Las Vegas to get married – no idea why he thought that! It was a such a beautiful day.
“This was truly the best day of my life!
“Dad, I love you more than you know, and I’m going to be by your side for every step of this process.”
For Viennese, having her father walk her down the aisle was a dream come true.
“We’ve both dreamed of him walking me down the aisle to my groom – and that moment finally happened.”
