Ellen Haynes had one fear after being diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer – she was afraid she wouldn’t be well enough to dance with her granddaughter on her wedding day.

Ellen, from Michigan in the US, was diagnosed with breast cancer last year just before Christmas. Her cancer had spread to the bones in her back, causing severe pain and the bones to break easily.

Because she was getting weaker by the day, Ellen was afraid that she wouldn’t be able to dance with her granddaughter, Brittany Marr, on her big day.

But she got her wish when a photographer agreed to a host a pre-wedding shoot for the pair!

The amazing photos were snapped by Mikayla Miller, who posted a competition on her Facebook Page, Copper + Pine, earlier this year for a free photoshoot.

Brittany wrote a heart-warming letter explaining why she thought she deserved to win the photoshoot.

“I’d like to capture through pictures the love I have for her, the love she gives me, and life is too special and short when you have special people in your life to take that time with them for granted,” Brittany wrote about her grandmother.

Mikayla says after reading the emotional letter, the decision was a no-brainer. She was more than willing to make the shoot as special as possible.

According to Metro News, on the day of the shoot, Brittany gave her grandmother an emotional “first look” in her stunning wedding dress and the two danced to “I’m Gonna Love You Through It” by country singer Martina McBride.

The moment was just as emotional for the photographer. “I can’t even remember how many times I could hardly see through the viewfinder on my camera because of the tears that had welled up in my eyes,” she told Huffington Post.

“The best thing, though, was that the whole session wasn’t filled with tears and sadness.

“We spent just as much, if not more time laughing and smiling together, which was beautiful,” Brittany says.
