Getting married soon and need to start searching for the perfect dress? On Saturday, local designers showcased their range of Spring/Summer 2016 gowns at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week – and the designs were lit.
From the quintessential two-piece outfit to afro-chic and fringed detail, the ramp was awash in wispy layers and beaded gowns.
Here are some of our favourites:
Orapeleng Modutle Style Avenue collection:
1. For the modern African bride
We love that this bridal look has been updated to include the doek. A touch of modern with a blend of African couture and culture.
2. The rosegold two-piece
So over the traditional white wedding dress? Rosegold is the 'It' colour of the moment. And it looks even more striking as a two-piece bridal ensemble with gold embellishments.
3. Beaded embellishments
Paired with wispy chiffon, this dress is perfect for the bride aiming for a whimsical, fairytale-inspired look.
4. Pretty and playful
Opt for a casual affair with this structured, off-the-shoulder frock. Style goals for days.
5. Summer wedding vibes
We’re getting a serious case of “lazy, hazy days of stylish summer” vibes from this modern two-piece outfit. Love the beaded adornments on the bodice.

6. The overlay skirt /dress
Or, the two-in-one bridal outfit for the bride who wants more, more, more!
7. A fairy tale cape for a fairy tale bride
Drape some bold patterns across the gown and voila! Forest bridal nymph goal achieved.
8. Classic floral detail
No bridal fashion show is complete without the classic gown with 3D floral appliqué adorning the frock.
9. Fringed mermaid
We adore this mash-up of different textures: fringed bodice and laced and beaded mermaid style skirt with 3D appliqué. Perfect for the bride with a tall, hourglass figure.
10. The striped tea-length skirt
Add a pretty choker to this off the shoulder top and tea length skirt.
11. Cut-outs are your friend
For something a little different, experiment with cut-out sleeves or v-neck strips to draw attention to your décolletage.
Add a bold pattern to an otherwise understated dress and round off the look with bell-sleeves that flare.
13. Afro-gorgeous
Add a gorgeous shoulder necklace to round off this beautiful African-inspired look.
14. The front-mullet frock
Admittedly, I’m not altogether a fan of this style, but this dress, with its beautiful and bold pattern and bejewelled neckline is absolute perfection. Make sure you have an up-do to show off your neckline.
