According to the Daily Mail, Meghan Markle’s dress will reportedly cost £100 000 (just about R1.7 million) and will be paid for by the royal family.
Sources from the fashion industry as well as royal insiders have revealed that the actress and soon to be Duchess has chosen Ralph & Russo to create her wedding gown – which will be one of two outfits she wears on the day.
Meghan might have chosen Ralph and Russo to create her wedding gown because they made such a beautiful gown for her for her official engagement photos. A couture gown, it featured a mesh top with embellished embroidery and a ruffled skirt which is a break from royal fashion tradition – maybe she’ll carry on this trend with her wedding dress itself?
Of course we have no official way of knowing the actual cost or look of the dress until the royals actually reveal it, but here’s a photoshopped image of what the Daily Mail thinks her dress will look like:

According to Glamour, Meghan’s friend Priyanka Chopra (who also confirmed that she will be attending the wedding on May 19) told Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live that Meghan teared up when she found her perfect dress.
So there’s no confirmation of the dress yet, but we know what Meghan wants her perfect dress to look like.
In an interview with Glamour back in 2016, Meghan said: “I have the luxury of wearing beautiful pieces of clothing every day for work, so my personal style—wedding or not—is very pared down and relaxed. Classic and simple is the name of the game, perhaps with a modern twist. I personally prefer wedding dresses that are whimsical or subtly romantic.”
Plus, Harry and Meghan will be sticking to tradition and Harry will not see the dress until the big day. In a recent press briefing, a palace spokesperson confirmed that the couple will spend the night before their wedding apart and that the first time Harry will see her gown will be the moments before she says I do. “That tradition is very important to them,” said the palace spokesperson.
So it looks like Meghan will be wearing a Ralph and Russo creation that will cost a pretty penny, but we guess we won’t know for sure until the palace releases the details, or we see it for ourselves on the day of the wedding.
