Book review: The Perfect Girlfriend by Karen Hamilton

accreditation

The Perfect Girlfriend by Karen Hamilton (first published in 2018 by Headline publishing)

The book blurb for this reads: Juliette loves Nate. She will follow him anywhere. She's even become a flight attendant for his airline, so she can keep a closer eye on him.
They are meant to be.

The fact that Nate broke up with her six months ago means nothing. Because Juliette has a plan to win him back. She is the perfect girlfriend. And she'll make sure no one stops her from getting exactly what she wants.

True love hurts, but Juliette knows it's worth all the pain...

When I read that I was immediately hooked. A woman obsessed with her ex and she gets a job to be close to him even? That sounds like a good read to me.

And I was right. Karen Hamilton really gets you inside the mind of a stalker and you’ll be thinking “what the hell is wrong with this woman?” quite a few times in the course of reading this book, but it’ll just make you want to keep reading it even more.

All I can say without giving too much away is that Juliette will do ANYTHING to get Nate back and her idea of the “perfect girlfriend’ may be warped, but she’s certain of what she wants and she’s going for it.

You’ll  probably find yourself liking Juliette at first and even feeling sorry for her, but you will be amazed by the lengths she is willing to go to. Like the fact that she manages to break into Nate’s flat more than a few times and even puts a spy app on his phone!

A great debut by a first time author who herself was a flight attendant so she definitely gets that part right. This is a great read if you need a distraction from your own hectic life, or if you just like a bit of a thriller.

The only thing I was disappointed by was the ending. It felt like it was a bit tacked on to me. But I may be wrong. Read the book and then tell me what you think!

Definitely give it a try. I give it 4 out of 5 stars – just cause of the ending.
