Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie joins the line-up of the Abantu Book Festival

The Abantu Book Festival organisers announced on Wednesday on their Twitter page, the additional international guests that will be a part of this year’s event.

The majority of the festival line-up was already announced in October, including notables like Tsitsi Dangarembga, Kagiso Lesego Molope and Novuyo Rosa Tshuma, and more, reports The Reading List.

Amongst the names of those announced today, was Nigerian novelist Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, who’ll be in conversation with Professor Pumla Dineo Gqola on Friday, 7 December 2018 at Eyethu Lifestyle Centre, in Soweto. 

Adichie has written many acclaimed novels including Purple Hibiscus, Half of a Yellow Sun, Americanah, The Thing Around Your Neck and We Should All Be Feminists.

It was also announced that Odafe Atogun, author of the acclaimed Wake Me Up When I’m Gone and Taduno’s Song, will also at the festival, conversing with Wamuwi Mbao. The third addition is author of The Secret Lives of Baba Segi’s Wives, Lola Shoneyin who’ll be in conversation with The Cheeky Natives. 

In the historic location of Soweto, the four-day extravangaza boasts the best poets, novelists, playwrights, biographers, readers and thinkers who are in love with literature.

The day events are held at the Eyethu Lifestyle Centre in Mofolo, where entry is free, and the night sessions at the Soweto Theatre in Jabulani and tickets cost R20.
