From her work as producer of the Sanlam Handmade Contemporary Fair and Winter Sculpture Fair, Cassandra is known for her considered approach to aesthetics and a dedication to excellence in her craft. We caught up with her to speak about her partnership with Maison Bisquit.

Please tell us a little bit about yourself.

I’m a design fair curator and lifestyle content creator. I don’t like titles because of the limitations they create. I laugh loudly, go all out for the things I love, and believe in working hard, which always keeps you prepared for the next opportunities.

How did the partnership with Bisquit Cognac and their #MaisonBisquit come about?

Bisquit approached me to collaborate on this project as a content creator. I think from the very beginning the approach is what was really made me feel that this was the right fit. The open mindedness, honesty, room to be myself and understanding of what I do, made it very easy to work together, rather than working for the brand.

Please tell us about your cocktail, how did you come up with it?

I cannot take credit for creating the cocktail. The talented mixologist, Gareth Wainwright (@jozidrinks) did his research on who I am, what I do and what I like, which then informed his crafting of the cocktail. With a few minor tweaks we arrived at ‘Golden Twine’.

What’s so special/different about it?

The ‘unexpected’ mix of bubbles and cognac, which is sublime.

The layering of textures - sherbert on the glass, twine around the stem and the silkyness of the drink. The harmony of sweet and sour coming together at the perfect point. It’s a really special cocktail. With each glass it gets better.

What does this partnership with Bisquit Cognac mean for you and your career?

It’s an opportunity to be open to new experiences, to create, experiment and express my ideas. Bisquit’s willingness to plug into Cassandra, rather than the other way around, has been an absolute treat and highlight of my career thus far. It’s easy to lose ‘things’ but real experience, are etched in your heart and mind forever.
