How has your mother inspired you?
My mother has gone through many trials and tribulations, but she’s always been able to be an incredible mother, come out on top, live a fulfilled life and be of service to her fellow men as well as her community as a minister in a local church. That inspires me to be a better person, and to be of service to my fellow man, as well as my community too. She’s so strong, and so resilient…she’s a rock!
What’s your fondest memory of your mother?
My fondest memories as a child have to be all the birthdays that my mother made so special for me. I lived with my grandparents in Potchefstroom, and my mother lived hours away in Itsoseng but she made an extra special effort to make sure that she attended every one of my birthdays. Even at a young age, I understood that she was out there in the “real” world working hard to make ends meet for us, and that made every birthday even sweeter for me. She always ensured that my birthdays were joyous occasions and I’ll never forget that.
How will you be spending Mother’s Day?
I’ll be spending Mother’s Day with Monique Muller, the mother of my soon-to-be first-born child. It’s going to be our first Mother’s Day as new parents and I’ll be sure to spoil my Baby Mama as best I can!
And a special tribute to your mother?
My mother means the world to me. She’s where life quite literally began for me, and she’s the one person I live to make proud of as a mother. Thank you, mom, and to all the moms out there in the world and to my Baby Mama, I love you!
