Kendrick Lamar surprised fans recently by dropping a music video for what we assume is his first single from his highly anticipated forthcoming album. The song, dubbed Humble, comes just a week after he wiped his entire Instagram account clean only posting a cryptic Roman numeral IV.
His Instagram account has since been wiped again, even leaving his profile picture blank.
So when the video for Humble dropped, fans were of course excited, but then the lyrics really got them going:
“I’m so fucking sick and tired of the Photoshop
Show me something natural like afro on Richard Pryor
Show me something natural like ass with some stretchmarks.”
So... I'm thinking about @kendricklamar's new video for #Humble & the casting call where they said. "Naw, sis. Not enough stretchmarks." pic.twitter.com/kXPKxWfQ40

It’s a refreshing change of pace to see an often misogynistic industry like hip hop appreciate women for their natural beauty and their stretchmarks – even calling it ‘sexy’.
This isn’t the first time Kendrick’s been praised for celebrating women in his songs. In his song ‘Complexion’ (A Zulu Love) he showed love for black women of all skin tones and drives home that everyone deserves love and respect.
