Tell us about your role on Faces?

I play a character called Aisha, she’s a lecturer, sister, friend and wife. In her storyline you’ll get to see her struggles as a woman in a powerful position but having to be submissive and obedient to her husband when she gets home. She’s intelligent, strong and holds her values high, however, to a certain extent this makes her naïve of certain things around her. On the one hand, the character goes through life-changing experiences like losing a child and eventually losing hope, but on the other, we see her picking herself up and walking away from a situation that no longer serves her.

What was your favourite thing about shooting the movie?

Besides the fact that London is my favourite city in the world, having to live and work there was a treat and a dream come true. Also, working with talented people I’ve always wanted to work with from all around the world was the best thing ever! I was lucky enough to be a part of a production that was focused on real life issues, that’s one of the things I love as an actress.

What did you learn from shooting the movie?

One can never say they know too much, there’s always an opportunity for you to learn. In every situation there’s always something to take from it. The movie has taught me to be tolerant, and never to judge others, as you don’t know their reasons. All in all it taught me patience and that no man is an island, always share experiences with those closest to you.

Any local or international films you have lined up for the rest of 2018?

I’ve got three productions currently in development under my company. I’m excited about the one film I recently produced called The Locksmith. It’s coming out soon and I’ll talking about it when the time is right.

What can your fans look out for?

Keep watching this space. I like showing my supporters the work I’ve already done, unlike talking about what’s yet to come. So, there’s a lot in the pipeline that I’ll be revealing in due time.

Faces will have its exclusive world premiere in South Africa at the 39th Durban International Film Festival (DIFF) on Sunday, 22 July 2018.
